Fungi root system? (Not mycelium)

I cut some fungi up for identification, I discarded of the stem and cap for them to be recycled. The stem seems to have turned green and has become part of a root system. I assume the plant has just used it for nutrients however it looks a lot different from the rest of the roots.

Appreciate the replies. I naively thought identification of mushrooms was much easier. Thanks for setting me straight I shall attempt to learn more whilst hopefully avoiding the much greater threat.

my camera quality isn't great but hopefully these are better :) I have also read the edibility section though no interest in eating them even if edible. Thank you. EDIT: One more thing, I sleep very close to the 'garden', should i be concerned about possible long term exposure to the spores through ...
