Agaric?

Hello everyone A few days ago I came across this fungus growing on the exposed cliff-top grassland on Seaford Head. There are no trees anywhere nearby. There was no discernible volva present. The gills were white, however they have dried brownish becoming more pink closer to the stipe. The spore pri...

Re: Microfungus on dead Bramble stem

Hi Simon, I was sure it was broken off from a longer stem with thorns :? no Hogweed, or any other umbellifers, around at all!

Microfungus on dead Bramble stem

Hello,

This bramble stem with tiny black microfungi were found at Knepp Estate, West Sussex a few days ago. I have attached a couple of photos taken at the time however I still have the stem so if further images or details are needed, please let me know and I will try my best.

Thank you

Re: Amanita or similar?

Hi Adam I didn't personally see a clear volva however there may have been a less distinct one present. On this occasion I refrained from uprooting or collecting the fungus, except for a tiny portion of the cap for a spore deposit. I normally wouldn't do this however it is a very special reserve and ...

Amanita or similar?

Hello everyone This is what I assume to be an Amanita or a similar fungus. It was found growing at Old Lodge SWT, a reserve set in the middle of the heathland of Ashdown Forest. It was growing in a part with few trees, however it was under a solitary Oak with none others nearby. I'm having trouble m...

Re: Mushroom ID Please

Thank you Roy and Andreas, a quick google search for images also shows that they seem to like growing on woodchips too!

Thanks again, James

Re: Mushroom ID Please

Thanks Mike, that does look very similar. Looked at the entry in Phillips, couldn't find anything that doesn't fit. The area was grassy before the woodchips appeared.

Mushroom ID Please

This large troupe of mushrooms was found growing on woodchip, although not any exotic stuff, just woodchip from tree-felling that no-one's bothered to clear up. The wood is probably birch, oak or horse chestnut, the former is the most common tree around. If anymore information/photos are needed then...

Re: Another Myxo for ID please

I don't think they were particularly iridescent, not that I noticed at least. If you can PM me an address then I'll be happy to send you a sample.

Another Myxo for ID please

Hello everyone This slime mould was covering a couple of bramble leaves as well as the nearby mulch. The fruiting bodies on the upper side of the leaf were unripe and much more spread out. They were much more dense on the underside and the majority were ripe, if that's the word to use. Found this mo...
