Invertebrates that use bracken as a food source
Can anyone illuminate on this question? The Wikipedia page on bracken lists several butterflies and moths, including fritillaries, but lacks citations and when I look at http://butterfly-conservation.org/files ... rflies.pdf - it is the dog violet that is the food plant, and the bracken only serves as a sun lounger. I did find some bracken being eaten by the good old snail and a reference to a New Scientist article from 1986 where the researchers were experimenting with a southern hemisphere moth that feeds on the plant, and carries a fungus causing a leaf curling disease. https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=AJU ... ts&f=false
