ID for this please

This was on the top of an oak tree stump 5/02. Some parts were c 5cm others smaller or very small. Whitish to dark brown. I don't have any idea of what it is. Suggestions please.

I suppose this could potentially be an old example of Inonotus dryadeus - Oak Bracket.

But whatever it is, it is well and truly past its best, and at this stage, not really exhibiting the sort of useful macro characteristics that would best indicate its species.
