Hello
Yesterday while out and about I found a patch of mossy tree trunk covered in what I think are slime mould fruiting bodies. They are mostly yellowish, covered in white granules and with a black 'stipe' with white 'veins' running longitudinally. The older fruit bodies retain the white granular surface to the fruit bodies but the ground colour is black. I tried a squash but didn't see anything of interest. I've been unable to find any matches so far, so any help would be gratefully received!
Thanks, James

Re: Myxo on mossy trunk
Hi James,
Can't be certain, as microscopy would be needed to be sure, but they have the general looks of Physarum album.
Pretty common, and can appear on all sorts of herbaceous/leafy/mossy/very rotten wood debris types of substrates: - Regards,
Mike.

Common sense is not so common.
