This was growing on branch overhanging a river. It measured about 10 cms across. The underside was grey as shown and later turned completely black. Assumed it was an extra large Bjerkandera adusta but do you think it may be b. fumosa.

Thes easiest way to separate the two is by looking at a section cut vertically down through a basidiome. That said I'm sure this is B. adusta.

Thanks Chris. I've managed to coax a few spores from it now and they do seem more like the size of b.adjusta - it was just that the bracket looked so big.
