Just got a leaf sample today and the sharp rather than finely pointed teeth on the leaf margin point me in the direction of the Japanese crab apple Malus x floribunda. To be sure I need to see the small rounded fruit that should measure about 8mm across.
Ok a tricky one! I guess August-September would be right for that! Its a beautiful tree and there are a couple of fungi regularly appearing under it, but I believe they are on buried woodchips and the tree is incidental. Parasola auricoma is one and a Psathyrella sp.
