Difficult to say from the picture. I need to see the leaf details but a guess would silvestris the crab apple. Try taking a Leaf / twig sample and try out the website link. Let me know how you get on.
Thanks Mike. The leaves all originate from end of the twig, about 5 of them. So I guess this is opposite, but the key doesn't help in this case.
It does look like a crab apple though
Just got a leaf sample today and the sharp rather than finely pointed teeth on the leaf margin point me in the direction of the Japanese crab apple Malus x floribunda. To be sure I need to see the small rounded fruit that should measure about 8mm across.

Ok a tricky one! I guess August-September would be right for that! Its a beautiful tree and there are a couple of fungi regularly appearing under it, but I believe they are on buried woodchips and the tree is incidental. Parasola auricoma is one and a Psathyrella sp.
